JNAC conducts major anti-encroachment drive across Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Nov 20: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Thursday conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment drive across several prominent localities of the city, including Sakchi, Golmuri, Baradwari, Kasidih, Kadma and Sonari. The operation formed part of an ongoing campaign to reclaim public spaces and ensure the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles. Acting on the instructions of the Deputy Municipal Commissioner, enforcement teams moved through the identified areas and removed a wide range of unauthorised structures that had gradually occupied footpaths and roadside stretches.

During the drive, officials dismantled illegal extensions of shops, makeshift stalls, vending carts, temporary tin shades and accumulated construction materials that were obstructing walkways. These encroachments, authorities noted, had been a persistent cause of inconvenience for residents and commuters by narrowing footpaths and creating bottlenecks along busy roads. The teams also cautioned commercial establishments against repeating such violations, stating that strict action would be taken against those found encroaching on public land in the future.

According to officials, the objective of the campaign is to restore clean, safe and obstruction-free pathways for pedestrians while also improving overall traffic flow in densely populated areas. They emphasised that maintaining the city’s public spaces requires continuous monitoring and cooperation from local traders and residents. The JNAC further confirmed that similar enforcement drives will be carried out regularly in the coming weeks to uphold urban orderliness and ensure a hassle-free movement environment across Jamshedpur.
