Jamshedpur: A team of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee led by City Manager Sonal Singh carried out a surprise inspection drive at Kadma market on Friday and collected Rs 16,600 in fine from eight persons.

It also seized banned polythene from the possession of the eight persons in the market.

Sanjay Kumar, Special Officer, JNAC, said, Defeating plastic pollution is the theme of World Environment Day this year. JNAC has set a target of making Jamshedpur a no polythene city.

This can be done only when the people come together and take a pledge to abstain from using polythene bags by 5th June. We are continuously raiding marketplaces and seizing polythene bags. But still, cases of violation are cropping up in large numbers.
