Ranchi, May 25: Traditionally backed by tribal and rural voters, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is now shifting its attention toward urban constituencies. Under Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s leadership, the party is strategically targeting city wards, aiming to win posts like deputy mayor and municipal vice-president.
Government schemes such as the CM School of Excellence, Ambedkar Libraries and urban slum welfare programs are being designed with urban beneficiaries in mind. Infrastructure projects like flyovers and enhanced public transport also form part of this urban-centric push.
According to JMM’s General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya, urban development is now as much a priority as rural welfare. The party seeks to strike a balance and expand its influence in cities, building on its rural success
