Jamshedpur, May 25: To promote education among tribal girls in Jharkhand’s Naxal-affected regions, the state will soon construct three 100-bed hostels under the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan and Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Yojana.
The hostels, costing Rs 2.7 crore each, will be established at Gudabandha (East Singhbhum), Tonto (West Singhbhum) and Kuchai (Seraikela Kharsawan). The Central Government will fund 60% of the cost, while the state will bear the rest. These will serve as residential facilities for girls who have limited access to education beyond elementary levels.
Until now, only Kasturba schools offered hostel facilities in the Kolhan region. The new hostels will open up high school opportunities for many first-generation learners. Tendering is underway, with foundation work to begin soon after finalization.
