JMM Issues warning to ED, public outcry grows: “Consequences Will be Serious”

Ranchi : In a press conference held at the party office on Tuesday, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya issued a warning to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), cautioning that the agency’s actions have stirred public anger in Jharkhand. He emphasized that if the warning is not heeded, serious consequences may follow.
Bhattacharya expressed concern over the timing of the ED’s actions, particularly during the crucial 3-6 months leading up to the 2024 election. He noted that political parties typically highlight their achievements during this period, and the Lok Sabha elections are slated to be completed by May. The actions of central agencies in the state just before the elections raise significant questions.
Highlighting the perceived intimidation of opposition parties, Bhattacharya likened the previous tactics based on religion and sect to the current fear instilled by the ED. He pointed out that even during the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan Assembly elections, ED and CBI actions continued. Bhattacharya alleged that the BJP directly benefited from such actions, and similar patterns are emerging in Jharkhand.
Questioning the transparency of ED and CBI actions, Bhattacharya raised concerns about how information regarding these actions becomes public. He argued that when such information is disclosed, it fuels claims that the state government is being harassed. The General Secretary criticized ED for creating confusion, citing instances where summons were issued without consideration for the Chief Minister’s schedule and raids were conducted without clear information about the findings.

  1. Vet unfortunate, promoting corruption and unethical culture by regional parties. Put public in dark. No difference in between Kashmir locals supporting militants by pelting stones on military. Mis utilisation of power, damaging state progress.
