JMM advises rail minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to focus on job, not on reels

CM announces Rs 2 lakh for deceased, Rs 50K for injured in train mishap

Ranchi, July 30: Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta along with tribal welfare minister Deepak Birua  reached the spot of Howrah-Mumbai train mishap at Barabambo on Tuesday.

The Health Minister has announced that the Jharkhand government will give an assistance amount of Rs 2 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased.

The Congress leader also took a dig at the Railway Ministry and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister is proving unsuccessful in preventing rail accidents with the cooperation of the Railway Ministry. He said that the Railway Ministry had claimed to bring advanced devices, which would reduce rail accidents, but this does not seem to be happening.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed grief over the rail accident in Chakradharpur Railway Division of Seraikela and expressed deep condolences to the people killed in this incident.

While talking to media persons in Jharkhand Assembly, the Chief Minister said that as soon as the news of the train accident was received this morning, the Jharkhand government along with the Health Minister decided to send a team to the spot to take stock of the ongoing relief and rescue operations.

The team has returned from the spot. The state government has decided to immediately give Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the passengers who died in the Howrah Mumbai Mail Express accident near Barabambo railway station and Rs 50,000 each will be given to the passengers injured in this accident.

Expressing concern over the rising number of rail accidents, Hemant Soren said that such incidents are happening continuously.

“The train which should have run on the track is getting derailed. Due to this, there is also loss of life and property, I pray for the peace of the soul of those who died in this accident and may God give strength to their families to bear this moment of grief,” said Soren.

Expressing concern over the frequent rail accidents, he said “Railway which was considered a lifeline for middle class and lower middle class has shattered to such an extent that it cannot be joined. The middle class, lower middle class, poor and labourers rely on it. It was a means of travelling from one end of the country to the other. Today that lifeline has shattered. Whatever the Railway Ministry says and shows through the media, its reality is in front of all of us today.

Meanwhile, hours after the Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed in Jharkhand, the JMM on Tuesday said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw should “stop making reels” and focus on his job instead.

The ruling party in Jharkhand also said the “entire responsibility” for the train accident “lies with the railway minister and the central government”.

In a post on X, JMM said, “Hemant Soren Ji or INDIA Bloc has no hand in this. Do not give threats to get us trapped by ED/CBI.”
Tagging former chief minister and BJP state president Babulal Marandi, it said, “The entire responsibility for this (train accident) lies with your Railway Minister and the central government. Stop the Railway Minister from making reels and request him to focus on railways.”
Opposition parties have been accusing the railway minister of being “busy making reels for social media platforms and not concentrating on passenger safety”.
