JMC to organize two day classical fest from Dec 8


Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Music Circle (JMC), a platform for classical music and dance, is all set to present the second annual classical endeavor on December 8 and 9 at the Maharashtra Hitkari Mandal auditorium in Bistupur. The program on both days will commence from 6 pm.

JMC is a platform where new, upcoming and seasoned musicians get together to propagate these heritage music and dance forms with variations added through the journey up to modern times.

The classical music fest will feature 17 city exponents of vocal, instrumental and dance genres over two days commencing December 8.

The first day will feature three presentations commencing with Archana Roy Chowdhury’s classical vocal recital. She will be accompanied by Shyam Chakraborty on tabla and Birendra Upadhyay on the harmonium.

Archana’s presentation will be followed by sitarist Debobroto Moitra’s composition. Swarup Moitra will accompany him on the tabla.

The first day’s program will conclude with the vocal recital of Nilanjan Mitra with Pradip Bhattacharjee on tabla and Kamalakhya Mukherjee on harmonium.
On December 9, the concluding day of JMC’s second annual classical soiree, four presentations have been featured. Classical vocalist Anil Kumar Singh will commence the day’s sojourn and will be assisted by popular Mihir Banerjee on tabla and Birendra Upadhyay on harmonium. Flutist Ashok Kumar Das will be the next to be on stage in the company of tabaliya Swarup Moitra.

Laboni Dutta will present her vocal recital along with Pradip Bhattacharji on the tabla and Pankaj Jha on harmonium.

The two day event will culminate with a Kaththak dance presentation Nabomita Chowdhury. Pradip Sil on tabla, Anirudh Sen on sitar and Ashok Kumar Das on flute will provide the musical accompaniment.
