JMC organizes �Morning Raga� cultural program

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Music Circle today organized classical vocal and instrumental recitals based on Morning Ragas at the Telco Ram Mandir. The audience included famous music gurus of the city apart from connoisseurs and general music lovers. This event was the second in the chain of Morning Raga presentations organized by Jamshedpur Music Circle.

The program commenced with the vocal rendition of bhajans by Anil Kumar Singh in raga Jogiya and raga Bhairavi. Kartick Pramanik accompanied him on the tabla.

The next item was classical songs by Dev Arghya Roy who was accompanied on the tabla by Pradip Bhattacharjee and on harmonium by Anil Kumar Singh.

Popular flutist Ashok Kumar Das exhibited his rich repertoire when he played tunes based on raga Basant Bukhari in Rupak and Teen Tala and he in company with tabaliya Amitabh Sen had the audience mesmerized.

Ashok Pramanick presented classical vocal songs. Bani Chaki on tabla and Manmohan Singh on harmonium accompanied the singer.

The final event of the morning comprised the magic of internationally famed and Jamshedpur born sitarist Subrata Dey accompanied on tabla by Amitabh Sen. Subrata played aalap, jod, jhala, vilambit laya and teen Tala based on raga Bheem Palashi. The Subrata-Amitabh combination cast a charming spell on the audience who rooted for more.

GB Subbaraman and Rohini Sathe anchored the program. The organizing team comprised Anirudh Sen, Ashok Kumar Das, Sunil Kumar Singh, Subhash Bose, Hara Prasad Mukherjee and Sujan Chatterjee.
