Jhurkuli village kids visit Tata Steel Zoo on World Humanitarian Day

Gamharia, August 20: Tata Steel’s CSR Department organized a visit to the Tata Steel Zoological Park for 38 underprivileged children and their parents from Jhurkuli Village in Gamharia on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day. The children had the opportunity to explore the zoo and museum, gaining insights into various animal species, their habitats, and wildlife conservation.

“TSLP’s management believes in adopting a holistic approach to education and learning for the targeted students from marginalized backgrounds. The excursion to Tata Steel Zoological Park was organized on World Humanitarian Day to provide the rural children an opportunity to learn about different species of animals, their habitats, and the importance of wildlife conservation.The company acknowledges that educational outings of this nature not only enhance knowledge but also foster a sense of wonder and curiosity towards nature,” informed a departmental official.

During the visit, the children observed deer, bears, monkeys, birds, tigers and lions in the ZoologicalPark. Museum Curator Prabhat answered the questions put up by the children and explained different facets about the habits and habitats of the different animals.

Gouri Rani Mahato, The Principal of New Jhurkuli School, Gouri Rani Mahto who accompanied the children and their parents to the Tata Steel Zoological Park, expressed her appreciation and gratitude towards the company’s efforts in providing this unique opportunity. “This is the first time for many of the students who have visited a zoo. Their curiosity to observe animals from close quarters and then to study animals and reptiles in their stuffed forms at the zoo museum have excited them and enhanced their knowledge of the animal kingdom. This practical knowledge will help them develop a deeper understanding of nature and the environment,” Principal Gouri Mahto observed.

The company arranged transportation, meal packets, chilled beverages, and drinking water for the children and those accompanying them. (w/gsd)
