Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Human Rights Conference (JHRC) members launched a save the girl child campaign at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital on Sunday in a bid to bring down cases of female foeticide and motivate parents to take special care of female offspring.
Leading outfit members, the president of the organization Manoj Mishra met parents expecting babies and appealed to them to take care of female children and make no distinction between a boy and a girl. The outfit members asked parents to make sure that they provide proper nutrition and education to their kids and raise them properly with full responsibility.
JHRC members said the campaign was launched with the objective to ensure that girls are safely brought into the world and are brought up properly without being subjected to gender discrimination on part of their parents or relatives. The campaign will continue for another few days and will be re-launched in the days to come, they said.
The JHRC members met many parents in the hospitals maternity ward and also talked to doctors to know about the condition of female infants. They said they were ready to help parents in every possible manner to make sure the life of children, especially girls, was not affected by wrong attitude of parents or anyone else.
