Seraikela: Notwithstanding tall claims of the state health department officials, the people of Seraikela-Kharsawan are reeling under inadequate health care facilities as the only Sadar Hospital in the district is running sans basic amenities.
The hospital, which looks in good condition from outside, is running virtually without basic resources. Medicines are often in shortage here. It does not have facilities for treatment for normal as well as major cases as a result of which the cases are referred to other hospitals in Jamshedpur or Ranchi, sources said.
Patients alleged that Rs 1000 is charged for availing the ambulance service in the hospital. The patients have to go to other hospitals or nursing homes to get themselves treated or diagnosed for major cases.
Sources said major emergency cases are generally referred to MGM Hospital by the doctors of Seraikela Sadar Hospital. They said the hospital�s condition was not so bad till before a decade. But for the last several years, the hospital has failed to fulfill the expectations of the people. A major reason for this is the posting of few doctors for a long time at the Sadar Hospital.
One such staff is posted here for the last 15 years while another is posted for the last six years, sources said.
