Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Human Rights Conference has demanded legal action against one Industrial Cooperative Federation Limited, an NGO, reportedly having its address near Dimna Road, Mango, for duping youths in the name of providing them self-employment opportunities.

The outfit president Manoj Mishra met the senior superintendent of police of East Singhbhum Richard Lakra on Monday and handed over a memorandum to him demanding lodging of FIR against members of the said NGO.

Mishra alleged that the said NGO had cheated on many unsuspecting youths by making tall promises to them and claiming to be working in the larger interest of youths. Members of the outfit have given their address of Patna and claimed to have a local office in Jamshedpur, Mishra said.

It is very disheartening to know that so many youths have been fooled by the NGO. The victims were made to pay hefty sums for getting self-employment opportunity. When they went to the NGO address, there was no such office. This led the youths to contact police for help, said Mishra.

Mishra said the police should lodge an FIR against the culprits and ensure that no other youth is victimised by the racket.
Many people comprising the JHRC members and the victims were present during the meeting with the SSP. They said the culprits had made away with several crores of rupees by fooling the victims.
