Jharkhand’s Lalita Rao wins silver at National Masters Championship

 

Jamshedpur/Goa, May 30: Jharkhand’s veteran athlete N. Lalita Rao won a silver medal in the Triple Jump event in the 50-plus age category at the 3rd National Women’s Masters Athletics Championship 2026 held at Bambolim Athletics Stadium in Goa.

Lalita Rao secured second place with an impressive jump of 7.89 metres, bringing pride to Jharkhand at the national level. The two-day championship, being held on May 30 and 31, has attracted nearly 800 women masters athletes from across the country.

A 17-member women’s team from Jharkhand is participating in the prestigious competition. The state contingent is being led by Vijay Singh, who praised the athletes for their strong performance on the opening day of the event.

Congratulating Lalita Rao on her achievement, Vijay Singh expressed confidence that Jharkhand athletes would continue their good performance on the second and final day of the championship and win more medals for the state.

The Masters Athletics Association of Jharkhand also expressed happiness over Lalita Rao’s success and extended best wishes to all participating athletes for the remaining events.
