Jharkhand’s ‘Golden Girl’ Rupa Tirkey to feature in The Kapil Sharma Show

Chaibasa, August 29: Former Sports Officer of West Singhbhum district who made a splash in the sporting scenario as a member of the gold winning Indian Lawn Bowls team at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, Rupa Rani Tirkey will be seen sharing space with two other gold medalists in the same meet, badminton Ace PV Sindhu and pugilist Nikhat Zareen in the second episode (new season) of highly popular, The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV.

Lawn Bowls was almost an unknown quantity until the winning spree of the women’s team culminated in gold for India at the last Commonwealth Games. Rupa Rani Tirkey, a proud member of the Indian Lawn Bowls team brought laurels for, along with India, for West Singhbhum and Jharkhand.

‘Golden Girl’ Rupa Rani Tirkey, in a chat said that the nation had greeted the Indian Lawn Bowls team with great love and warmth. “Naturally, being a member of our gold medal winning team and being welcomed by the entire nation is a matter of pride and joy. We are continuing to receive so much warmth from the entire country. I am very happy. I will shortly be seen in the company of two other Commonwealth Games gold medalists PV Sindhu and Nikhat Zareen in the popular Kapil Sharma Show’s second episode telecast on Sony TV.”

Rupa said that she was very excited to receive an invitation from the organizers of The Kapil Sharma Show. She said that she was very excited about it. She said, “It was a lot of fun and I learnt many new things. Everyone encouraged the three of us during the shooting. It was a terrific experience.”

Earlier, Jharkhand’s Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur had called and honored her. A young, gold medal winning lady, was her own, simple self in spite of all the adulation she and her team mates continued to receive. “Chaibasa citizens welcomed me with great affection. In fact, after the Commonwealth Games’ gold, the world for me changed. The Indian President, Prime Minister, Jharkhand Chief Minister and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar were among others who tweeted their congratulations to me. Not many people had much idea about Lawn Bowls game until we won gold in the event. Now, the entire nation knows about it. I am very optimistic of Lawn Bowls becoming a sporting event that the younger generation would take to seriously,” Rupa Rani Tirkey concluded.
