State FM claims to start other closed mines
Palamu, February 16: Production has started from Jharkhand’s first commercial coal mine in Palamu district.
Palamu’s Rajhara North Coal Mines was inaugurated jointly by state finance minister Radhakrishna Kishore and Palamu MP Vishnu Dayal Ram.
Rajhara North Coal Mines was allotted to Fair Mine Carbon Private Limited. The central government had laid down the condition regarding coal production that production should start from September 2025. But the company has started production from January itself.
Rajhara North Coal Project has a reserve of about 22 lakh metric tonnes of coal. It has been given to Fair Mine Carbon Private Limited for about 30 years. With the start of the coal project, more than 500 people of the area will get direct employment, while hundreds of people will be indirectly involved. The state government is going to get a revenue of about Rs 100 crore from the coal project.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Radha Krishna Kishore said that this is better for change in the area. The state government will also take initiative to start the closed mines in Palamu area and bring the mining department to the spot. He said that there are five coal mines in his assembly constituency, but production has started from only one. The Finance Minister expressed hope that production will be started from all places soon.
Palamu MP Vishnu Dayal Ram said that other coal projects are expected to start soon. He said that initiatives are also being taken to start Rajhara coal mines.
Company director Sameer Lohia said that work has started before the scheduled time. He said that the goal is not only to produce but also to do development work in the area.
