FJCCI meet prompts CM to direct for high level committee to form draft
Ranchi, October 22: Jharkhand government is preparing a draft for regularisation of unauthorised constructions in urban areas of the state.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, a high level committee was formed to prepare the draft “Scheme-2022 for regularization of unauthorized construction”
The state urban development and housing department issued a notification on Friday for constitution of ten-member inter-departmental high-level committee.
The committee will study the orders/plans of various states in this regard.
After studying the order / plan made by various states to regularize unauthorized residential construction, this high level committee has prepared a draft of “Scheme for regularization of unauthorized construction – 2022” relative to the local parameters of the state of Jharkhand.
The draft report would levy a one-time impact fee for regularisation of unauthorised plots. However, those plots set up on government lands, public utilities and in violation of fire safety provisions would not come under this policy.
In this regard, the chairperson and members of the committee may also visit as needed, other states so that the special aspects obtained after studying the ways to actually effect the plan can be included in the draft of the plan to be prepared.
The director of the Directorate of Urban Administration will be the chairman of the high level committee while, Municipal Commissioner of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, Municipal Commissioner of Giridih Municipal Corporation, chief engineer of Building Construction Department, Engineer head of Road Construction Department, Chief Engineer of Technical Cell of Urban Development and Housing Department, Director General of Fire Services, Planning Development Department Joint Director, undersecretary/ deputy director Urban Development and Housing Department and city investors will be the members.
Significantly, on October 20, a delegation of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), led by Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, met the Chief Minister and urged him to take initiative towards regularization of un-mapped buildings and structures in urban areas of the state.
The Chief Minister had assured the delegation that the government would take positive initiatives in this direction. In this context, taking quick initiative, he directed the Urban Development and Housing Department to constitute a high level committee.
