Jharkhand to give money for bicycles to 9 lakh students this month

Ranchi: Nine lakh students of Class VIII studying in government schools of Jharkhand will be provided with a bicycle amount of Rs 4,500. This amount will be given to the students in Class VIII in 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23. For this, Tribal Welfare Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha has asked the deputy commissioners of all districts to provide information about the school-wise beneficiaries.

Currently its amount is deposited in PL account. It has been decided to release the amount through DBT to about nine lakh beneficiaries. School-wise information from the districts has been sought by October 15. Based on the information received, the amount will be paid to the student’s account through DBT.

At the same time, for the financial year 2023-24 and 2024-25 through open tender, the target has been set to distribute bicycles among about six lakh students of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Castes and Minority Communities. Tender process is being initiated by the department.
