Wildlife Week celebration concludes at Tata Zoo, over 6500 students participate
Jamshedpur, Oct 12: The closing ceremony of the Wildlife Week Celebration 2025 concluded today with an On-the-Spot Painting Competition for school children at Tata Steel Zoological Park, Jamshedpur.
This year’s celebration was jointly organized by the Jamshedpur Forest Division and Tata Steel Zoological Park. The week-long program commenced on October 3rd with a Walkathon – “Walk for Gajraj”, which was flagged off by Saba Alam Ansari, Divisional Forest Officer, Jamshedpur.

The Wildlife Week festivities included a variety of engaging and awareness-driven activities such as the Walkathon at Van Bhawan, Marathon (Run for Gajraj), On-the-Spot Essay Writing Competition, Debate, Keeper Talk at Tata Zoo, and the On-the-Spot Painting Competition.
A total of over 6,500 school children and citizens of Jamshedpur enthusiastically participated in the celebrations.
The Valedictory Function was graced by Paritosh Upadhyay, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Jharkhand, Ranchi, as the Chief Guest, and S. R. Natesha, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, CCF (Wildlife) emphasized the importance of such events in promoting awareness about wildlife conservation and commended the collaborative efforts of the Jamshedpur Forest Division and Tata Steel Zoological Society.

PCCF (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Paritosh Upadhyay, appreciated the crucial role of zoos in imparting education and fostering awareness on wildlife conservation. He also announced that Jharkhand will soon have two new zoos and one tiger safari to further strengthen wildlife education and outreach in the state. He lauded the Tata Steel Zoological Park for its sustained efforts in creating community awareness on conservation issues. They also distributed prize to the winners of the various activities.
Dr. Naim Akhtar, Deputy Director & Officer-in-Charge, Tata Steel Zoological Park, proposed a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, officials of the Forest Department, and members of the Tata Steel Zoological Society for their contribution in making the Wildlife Week Celebration 2025 a grand success.
Also present on the occasion were Pranay Sinha, Vikas Kumar, and Rahul Kumar, Members of the Tata Steel Zoological Society. Saba Alam Ansari, DFO Jamshedpur, who played a key role in partnering with TSZS for the event, also graced the dais.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mahato, Curator, and Dr. Seema Rani, Biologist-cum-Education Officer, coordinated the entire week-long celebration with commendable support from the zoo team.
