Jharkhand Telugu Samajam celebrates Andhra Day in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, November 1: The All Jharkhand Telugu Samajam celebrated Andhra Day with great enthusiasm at its Kadma office on Saturday. The event marked the formation day of Andhra Pradesh and paid tribute to the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu, whose determination and non-violent movement led to the creation of the state.

The program was inaugurated by President Y. Eswar Rao. In his address, Rao recalled that on October 19, 1952, Potti Sriramulu began a fast unto death demanding a separate Andhra Pradesh. After 56 days of fasting, he sacrificed his life for the cause, leading Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to announce the formation of Andhra Pradesh, which officially came into existence on November 1, 1954.

He urged the Telugu community to follow Sriramulu’s ideals of truth, non-violence, and patriotism, and to work together for the progress and unity of Telugu people worldwide.

General Secretary L. Nageshwar Rao highlighted that Andhra Pradesh was India’s first state formed on a linguistic basis and called for Telugu people in Jharkhand to receive caste-based reservation for better employment opportunities.

Spokesperson Prasad Rao emphasized the importance of unity and said the Samajam would continue to expand across Jharkhand to bring all Telugu people together under one platform.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Y. Eswar Rao. Several members and families of the Telugu community attended the celebration.
