Jharkhand shines at 44th National Master Athletic Championship 2024, Sanjeev Tomar wins discus throw gold

Jamshedpur, Feb 17: The third day of the five-day 44th National Master Athletic Championship witnessed a remarkable performance by athletes representing Jharkhand at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium. Sanjeev Kumar Tomar, the General Secretary of the Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand and an international master athlete, excelled in the discus throw event for the 55 plus age group, clinching the gold medal with a throw of 42 meters.

Tomar’s success added to his earlier wins in the championship, where he bagged gold in hammer throw and silver in shot putt.

In the 45 plus age group, female athlete Savitri Savaiya contributed to Jharkhand’s medal tally by winning the silver medal in the javelin throw event.

Master athletes present extended their congratulations to the Jharkhand contingent.

Expressing his elation at the conclusion of the competition, Sanjeev Kumar Tomar, credited the team’s collective effort for their outstanding performance. Under his leadership, the Jharkhand team has bagged a total of 10 medals – five gold, three silver, and two bronze, marking a significant triumph for the state.
