Jamshedpur, Feb 5: In a commanding performance, Jharkhand claimed a resounding victory by an innings and 102 runs over Manipur in their Elite Group A encounter of the Ranji Trophy on Monday, earning seven valuable points. The match unfolded at the Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur where Jharkhand exhibited dominance over the four days of play.
Jharkhand set the tone by dismissing Manipur for a meager 170 runs in the first innings. Following this, they amassed a substantial 334-run lead, declaring their innings at an imposing 504/5.
Manipur faced an uphill battle in their second innings, and despite a notable contribution from skipper K Langlonyamba Meitan, who scored 88 runs, they succumbed to the relentless pressure. Ultimately, Manipur folded for 232 runs, paving the way for Jharkhand to claim victory by an innings and 102 runs, securing a bonus point in the process.
During the second innings, Manipur’s Keishangbam displayed resilience by facing 157 balls, accumulating 88 runs with 12 boundaries and a six. However, Jharkhand’s Pankaj Raunak emerged as the chief tormentor, returning impressive figures of 4/22 from his 14.3 overs.
