Jharkhand schools to get real-time attendance monitoring

Ranchi, Apr 20: The Jharkhand government is launching a real-time integrated dashboard to monitor the attendance of students and teachers and track ongoing school schemes. Through this system, the state will get instant access to attendance data, performance indicators and dropout tracking.

A private IT agency will be appointed for the design, maintenance and operation of this system, which will integrate the existing e-Vidyavahini portal and the Centre-backed Vidya Samiksha Kendra. The School Education and Literacy Department has already begun the tender process.

“This dashboard will revolutionize the way we monitor schools,” an official from the education department stated. “We’ll know which teacher is absent, how many students missed school and whether textbooks and kits have been distributed—all in one click.”

The system will offer comprehensive data: school-wise, class-wise and district-wise. It will track attendance trends, exam performance, teacher qualifications, infrastructure availability and more. Dropout rates will be monitored weekly, monthly and quarterly, allowing officials to take timely action.

Also included are records of monthly and proficiency assessments, exam results, school certifications and resource distributions. The move is expected to enhance accountability and streamline decision-making.

A Data Lake—a central repository for storing structured and unstructured data—will be at the core of this initiative, enabling advanced analytics and efficient data retrieval.

With this development, Jharkhand aims to bring systemic reform and real-time responsiveness into school management and educational planning.
