Ranchi, March 31: Amit Khare, principal secretary (Planning and Finance Department), Government of Jharkhand, said on Thursday that on the closing day of financial year 2015-16, the State Government has received Rs. 5553.37 crore as loan from the Reserve Bank of India under the Uday Yojana.
He further said that the State Government has paid Rs 4770 crore to DVC and Rs 783.37 crore to Coal India through Jharkhand Electricity Production Corporation Limited, Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited, Jharkhand Electricity Transmission Corporation Limited and Jharkhand Electricity Development Corporation Limited. He stated that by doing this before the scheduled date, the State Government has got 60 percent rebate on Delayed Payment Surcharge (DPS) and saved Rs 1505.87 crore.
Itís worth noting that under Uday Yojna scheme, Jharkhand was the first state to have signed MoU with the Central government and it was decided at the time of signing the MoU that if the Jharkhand government makes the payment before March 31, it will get 60 percent rebate on DPS.
Khare gave credits for this to principal secretary (Energy) and other officials. He said that along with energy secretary they were in constant touch with Union Finance Ministry, Union Energy Ministry and the Reserve Bank of India.
Khare said that considering the importance of the issue Rahate, principal secretary (Energy) was camping in New Delhi for last two days and top officials of Jharkhand Electricity Production Corporation Limited, Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited, Jharkhand Electricity Transmission Corporation Limited and Jharkhand Electricity Development Corporation Limited were camping in Mumbai to have the follow-up with RBI.
Langest, chairman, DVC was in Ranchi and Gopal Singh, CMD, CCL, was also in touch with the finance secretary to make it happen.
