Daltonganj, Sep 4: The Jharkhand Police is all set to launch a statewide Jan Shikayat Samadhan program on September 10, aiming to invite citizens to file complaints against any police personnel, including constables and higher-ranking officers. The initiative is designed to enhance transparency and accountability within the police force. Participants are required to ensure that their complaints are factual and not frivolous, as complaints deemed biased or unfounded could lead to consequences for the complainant.

SP Reeshma Ramesan has expressed strong support for the initiative, emphasizing that individuals with legitimate complaints should feel confident coming forward. Complaints will be reviewed by senior officers, including the SP, DIG, or IG, depending on the rank of the accused officer. The program, conceptualized by DGP Anurag Gupta, is aimed at increasing police accountability and rebuilding public trust. Gupta’s vision includes addressing concerns about police favoritism and improving overall police functioning.

Local residents have welcomed the program, viewing it as a significant step toward addressing grievances and enhancing police accountability. They highlighted issues such as police bias in land disputes and unresponsive officers as areas of concern. The Jan Shikayat Samadhan program will focus on two main aspects: receiving public complaints and providing prompt resolutions. SP Ramesan is optimistic that this initiative will lead to improved relations between the police and the community. She also expressed confidence that the program will foster future improvements in police-public interactions and promised ongoing innovation to enhance its effectiveness.
