Bokaro : A day after 27 red rebels were gunned down in Chhattisgarh, two members of banned the outfit, CPI-Maoist, were gunned down in Jharkhand’s Bokaro on Wednesday morning.
According to initial reports, two Naxals were gunned down in a gunfight with security forces Upparghat forest area under Bermo police station jurisdiction.
A senior police officer stationed at Jharkhand Police headquarters in Ranchi said, joint security forces including Jharkhand Police and Central Armed Reserve Force (CRPF) had launched an anti-insurgency operations in Upparghat forest area after learning camping of Maoist cadres.
The officer added that Maoists indiscriminately opened fire at the joint forces as they neared their camp. Two Naxals were killed in retaliatory firing by the joint forces.
The female Maoist cadre has been identified as wife of a senior Maoist leader Rannvijay Mahto’s wife.
According to police, Wife of Rannvijay killed in the morning encounter carried a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on her head.
Till the time report were filed combing operations continued in the area to nab the absconding Maoists.
