Jharkhand on red alert for November maoist threat

Jharkhand Police Headquarters has issued a statewide security alert following reports that the banned CPI (Maoist) organization plans series of events throughout November.

Inspector General of Police (Operations) sent a confidential letter directing all district Superintendents of Police to exercise heightened vigilance and strengthen security arrangements immediately.

Senior officers in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad received strict directives alongside officials from the Railway Police and the specialized ‘Jharkhand Jaguar’ anti-Naxal unit.

Intelligence inputs reveal Maoists plan to observe a ‘Bloody Revolution Week’ from November 8 to 15, followed by an ‘Anti-Repression Week’ ending November 22.

The organization will conclude its campaign with a ‘Martyrs’ Week’ scheduled from November 24 to 30, according to official communications.

Special Branch officials warned that despite recent surrenders, arrests, and rehabilitations weakening Naxal forces, the risk of violent untoward incidents during these weeks remains extremely high.

Security forces fear insurgents may target government installations, block offices, financial institutions, and Forest Department premises alongside local public transport systems.

Police headquarters urged strict surveillance around vital infrastructure including railway properties, main roads, bridges, culverts, and local markets to prevent sudden sabotage attempts.

The Inspector General instructed district commanders to conduct daily briefings for field personnel and strictly enforce Standard Operating Procedures throughout the three-week period.

Authorities advised officers to carefully verify all reports before responding, noting Naxalites historically stage minor distractions to ambush approaching security forces.

All district administrative units continue establishing proactive security protocols and emergency measures to maintain law and order across the state.
