PM Modi virtually releases sanction letters to 32,000 PMAY-G beneficiaries

Jamshedpur, September 15: In a move aimed at empowering the underprivileged, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed approval letters to 32,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna-Gramin (PMAY-G) via video conferencing. The Prime Minister also released the first instalment of ₹32 crore during the event in assistance for the construction of permanent homes.
Modi began his address by paying homage to the land of Baba Baidyanath, Baba Basukinath, and Bhagwan Birsa Munda, and extended his greetings on the occasion of Karma Parv, a festival dedicated to nature worship, particularly significant in Jharkhand. He recounted a touching moment at Ranchi airport, where a woman presented him with a symbol of Karma Parv, symbolizing women’s prayers for the well-being of their brothers.

Empowering the underprivileged with permanent housing
Highlighting the success of PMAY-G, Modi said that the scheme was providing the gift of permanent homes to people across Jharkhand, offering much-needed stability. He emphasized that along with houses, beneficiaries received additional facilities such as toilets, drinking water, electricity, and gas connections, helping to improve their overall quality of life. “When a family gets its own home, the confidence grows,” Modi said, adding that the homes paved the way for families to secure both their present and future.
Modi also underlined the job creation impact of the scheme, stating that the construction of houses was generating thousands of jobs in both rural and urban areas of Jharkhand.

PM Janman Yojna for tribal communities
Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined that many significant steps had been taken to empower the poor, Dalit, deprived and tribal families of the country since 2014 and said that PM Janman Yojna was being run for tribal brothers and sisters across the country.
In his virtual address, PM Modi said that through PM Janman Yojna, efforts were being made to reach those tribes who were extremely backward and officials themselves reached out to such families to provide them with houses, roads, electricity, water, and education.
He said that such efforts were a part of the government’s resolutions for a developed Jharkhand.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that these resolutions would be fulfilled and the dreams of Jharkhand would become a reality with the blessings of the people.
He added that other facilities like toilets, drinking water, electricity, gas connection were also provided along with PMAY-G.
He further added that along with stabilizing their present, the tribals had started thinking about their better future.
“Thousands of jobs are also being created in the villages and cities for the people of Jharkhand along with pukka houses through the PM Awas Yojna,” he said.
Apology for weather-related absence
Due to adverse weather conditions, Modi was unable to attend the event in person and expressed his regret to the people of Jharkhand for inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various projects via video conferencing.
The event was attended by Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and other key officials. (w/gsd)
