Dr. Ajoy attacks Modi over Sarna Dharma Code

Jamshedpur: Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar launched a sharp critique against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press statement following the Parivartan Maha rally in Jamshedpur. Dr. Kumar accused Modi of betraying the tribal community by failing to announce the implementation of the Sarna Dharma Code, a key demand symbolizing cultural and religious freedom for Jharkhand’s tribals.

“Tribals believed that Modi would use this rally to finally announce the Sarna Dharma Code, but once again, they have been disappointed,” Dr. Kumar stated. He pointed out that two years ago, the Hemant Soren-led government had passed a bill related to the Sarna Dharma Code and sent it to the central government for approval, but there has been no response from the Modi administration. “BJP’s pretense of tribal sympathy has been exposed,” Dr. Kumar added, highlighting the frustration of the tribal community.

Dr. Kumar also accused Modi of lying about the presence of Bangladeshi intruders in Jharkhand. Referring to the Prime Minister’s comments during the rally, where Modi claimed that intruders were taking over tribal lands, Dr. Kumar called it baseless. “The Home Ministry itself has admitted in an affidavit to the Ranchi High Court on September 12, 2024, that it has no data regarding intruders seizing tribal land. On what basis is the Prime Minister making such claims?” he asked.

He further stated that Modi’s false assertions are aimed at creating tensions between tribals and Muslims in Jharkhand for political gain. Dr. Kumar demanded an apology from Modi for misleading the public and said the Prime Minister should stop spreading propaganda.

The Congress leader didn’t stop at the Sarna Dharma Code and intruder issue but went on to slam the BJP for corruption during its years in power in Jharkhand. He noted that BJP has ruled the state for more than 14 of the 24 years since its creation, yet Modi accuses the opposition alliance of corruption. “Modi has no right to speak about corruption when BJP leaders themselves have been involved in looting Jharkhand,” Dr. Kumar said, referencing corruption allegations against former Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

He argued that Modi has consistently failed to deliver on his promises, including his pledge to create two crore jobs annually and deposit ₹15 lakh in the accounts of every Indian. “What happened to these promises? Modi speaks only lies,” Dr. Kumar asserted.
