Jharkhand implements Four-year B.Ed program, discontinues Two-year course

Ranchi: In a significant development, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program in Jharkhand is set to undergo a transformation, transitioning from a two-year course to a four-year duration starting from the academic session 2024-25. This decision aligns with the guidelines provided by the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE), and a corresponding notification has been issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The NCTE notification explicitly states that the two-year B.Ed course will no longer receive approval from the academic session 2024-25, in adherence to the new education policy. As part of this overhaul, the names of the four-year B.Ed courses—previously identified as BA-B.Ed, B.Sc-B.Ed, and B.Com-B.Ed—have been rebranded as the Integrated Teachers Education Program (ITEP).
This shift not only reflects the evolving landscape of teacher education but also underscores the broader national efforts to align with contemporary educational paradigms. As Jharkhand embraces the four-year B.Ed program, educators and aspiring teachers are poised to undergo a more comprehensive and immersive training experience to meet the demands of modern educational practices.
