Ranchi (IANS): Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a massive modernization drive for the Jharkhand Police on Friday, flagging off 1,485 new vehicles and laying the foundation for 12 high-tech police stations. The ceremony, held at the Jharkhand Assembly premises, marks a significant upgrade to the state’s law and order infrastructure.
Fleet Expansion and Distribution
The first phase of this deployment includes 636 four-wheeler patrolling vehicles (Mahindra Bolero BS-6) and 849 two-wheelers. This fleet aims to decrease emergency response times and increase police visibility in both urban and rural areas.
-
District Allocation: 614 Boleros went directly to various districts, with others assigned to Quick Response Teams (QRTs).
-
Total Sanction: The government has approved a total of 1,255 patrol cars and 1,697 bikes for the department.
High-Tech Policing Hubs
The Chief Minister also virtually laid the foundation stones for 12 state-of-the-art police stations. These “one-roof” hubs will integrate four specialized police units, making it easier for citizens to access multiple services in one location.
The new high-tech stations will be built in:
Ranchi, East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar, Garhwa, Giridih, Palamu, Gumla, Dumka, and Chatra.
CM Soren emphasized that creating a “fear-free environment” remains a top priority, promising continued logistical and technological support for the force.
