Jharkhand High Court grants bail to Jamshedpur BJP leader Abhay Singh 

Jamshedpur, Oct 13: The Jharkhand High Court today granted bail to senior BJP leader Abhay Singh in an alleged extortion case.

The court order comes after a hearing regarding his bail in court. If no new disputes or issues arise, Jamshedpur-based Singh is expected to be released from Ghagidih jail by Monday or Tuesday.

Singh has been in jail since April 10. The case involves an FIR lodged against Singh, his brothers Dilip Singh and Nirbhay Singh with Mango police station by one Mohammad Sagir, alleging extortion.

Sagir, in his FIR, claimed that Singh and his brothers  extorted money during the construction of a residential flat in the year 2012. Her alleged that an extortion amount of Rs 5 lakh was demanded, with Rs 2 lakh for each flat. The complaint stated that he was threatened with dire consequences if the money was not paid.

Nirbhay Singh, one of the accused, had previously obtained bail in the case. The court had initially cancelled the bail or parole of the individuals involved, leading them to approach the High Court for relief.

Bail to Singh created an atmosphere of enthusiasm among party workers. His supporters expressed joy and relief following the court’s decision.
