Jamshedpur: As Omicron tally continues to surge, Health Minister Banna Gupta presided over a meeting at the district collectorate’s auditorium on Monday.
During the meeting, Gupta did a thorough review of the departments comprising health, education, municipal, welfare, social welfare, disaster management, electricity, supply etc
He took details of the medical resources available in the district such as ICU, NICU, PICU, PSA Plant, Isolation Bed and Covid test and vaccination in the district. He warned that some countries of the world are witnessing the outbreak of Omicron variant of corona infection but the death rate is very low, yet no stone should be left unturned in maintaining health facilities in the district.

Gupta also appealed to the residents of the district to take special care of protection from corona infection during the New Year celebration. In the course of reviewing the disaster management, he was informed about the compensation payment for the damage caused by heavy rains, cyclone in the district. In order to review the civic body, it was informed by the Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar that 30 places have been identified in the city where CCTV cameras are to be installed, which will be further expanded later. He said that if no one is using the community buildings personally, it should be surveyed, as well as instructions were given to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries get the benefit of the public welfare schemes of the government. While reviewing the issues of cleanliness, encroachment and garbage dumping etc. in the city, necessary guidelines were given.
The State Government’s Disaster Management Department is to pay compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the dependents of those who died in road accidents and Rs 50,000 to the dependents of those who died due to corona infection. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the process of payment of compensation is going on by identifying the dependents of 30 persons who died in road accidents in the district, the remaining cases will also be executed soon. On the spot, a check of compensation amount of one lakh rupees was given to five dependents.
On the occasion, 10 children of ICSE board who got first, second and third position across the state received Rs. 3 lakh, Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh respectively. Aishani Mishra and Ishadutti Dey, who secured first position in the Arts stream, were given a token check of Rs.3 lakh each, Sikta Tarangini, who secured the second position, Rs.2 lakh and Shambhavi, who secured the third position, Rs.1 lakh. Whereas in commerce faculty Rs 3 lakh to Diya Chakraborty, Rs 2 lakh each to Anshika Goyal and Rohan Dutta and Rs 1 lakh to Deepika Paul, Rs 2 lakh to Rupika Sinha and Rs 1 lakh to Anushka Bharadwaj in science faculty.
