Jharkhand Health minister faces flak for giving Jamshedpur college event a miss

Jamshedpur, May 14: The students of Jamshedpur Workers’ College at Mango were dismayed when the chief guest of the pre-health check-up camp organized on the campus today failed to turn up. The chief guest was none other than the state health minister Banna Gupta.

According to AJSU Chhatra Sangh’s Kolhan unit president Hemant Pathak, “The absence of the minister to turn up at the college event shows his lack of interest. He did not come despite having given time to the organizers. This is unfortunate since Mango falls in his constituency.”

The girl students of the college had planned a cultural event to welcome the health minister. They stood in the sun for long waiting for his arrival, but were disappointed when the college officials were informed that Gupta would not come, sources said.

AIDSO member Kameshwar Prasad said the minister had insulted the students and the college. “It is an attempt to shirk one’s responsibility. We strongly condemn this,” he said.

Many students were present during the programme.
