Apprehends Centre move to decrease reserved seat in delimitation exercise
Ranchi, November 25: JMM central general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya has assured that the new government under Hemant Soren to be formed on November 28 will start fulfilling the promises it has made.
“It will start fulfilling the aspirations of the people,” said Bhattacharya who is also spokesperson of the party.
The JMM leader said that the opposition i.e. BJP leaders are unable to digest the mandate received from the people and the victory of the ruling coalition. He said that the top leadership of BJP, which had imposed its leadership on the tribals and natives here, is also unable to digest this mandate.
He said that the hateful language coming out of the mouth of BJP leaders even after the results is worrying.
He alleges that the BJP has been wiped out in the areas where they had tried to spread communalism poison.
He said that out of the 18 seats in the entire Santhal, they have got only one seat. He said that his MLA from Rajmahal also used to raise the infiltration issue in the House even when his government was in power. But his government believed that there is no infiltration here. But this time due to his stubbornness, the central leadership of BJP also started talking about alleged infiltration.
He said that there is a possibility of census in 2025. After this, delimitation will also take place.
“We have expressed this apprehension earlier also that the reserved seats here, for tribals and Harijans, are going to be attacked by BJP. Because they do not like the tribals and Harijans of these areas,” alleged Supriyo.
He said that the Parliament winter session has also started from today. In this too, there can be a discussion on the reserved seats of Jharkhand.
He warned that if there is any attempt to decrease the number of reserved seats it will not be right.
Supriyo said that BJP is trying to reduce the number of reserved seats in Jharkhand.
The JMM leader said, whenever they have expressed any apprehension, it has proved to be correct. We understand their Manuwadi thinking. Said, their attack will start again on these seats or in these areas. BJP knows that unless they create a rift between the natives and the tribals, in the name of religion, in the name of region, their conspiracy is not going to succeed.
Incidentally, India is likely to commence its much awaited Population Census early next year. A lot hinges on the outcomes of this exercise, most critically the delimitation of India’s electoral constituencies.
Delimitation is the process of drawing the boundaries of electoral constituencies in a country which determines two things: voter eligibility by location, and the apportionment of parliamentary seats for each State. The outcome of delimitation has important implications for representative democracy in India.
