Jamsedpur, Aug 3: Jharkhand is set to establish its first-ever State Faculty Development Academy, aimed at enhancing the skills and proficiency of university teachers across the state. This initiative will include short-term training programs at prestigious institutions such as XLRI and IIM, designed to update educators on advanced educational research and teaching technologies.
The new academy will focus on developing the capacity of teachers from all state universities, including Kolhan University and Jamshedpur Women’s University. The goal is to equip them with the latest knowledge and skills to adapt to the evolving educational landscape.
Recent surveys during the implementation of the new education policy highlighted that university teachers are not sufficiently updated with contemporary teaching methods. In response, the state government has approved Rs 20 crore for the establishment of this academy under the new education policy framework. The academy will organize high-level training programs, including induction programs, refresher courses, and faculty development initiatives.
The Jharkhand State Faculty Development Academy will collaborate with the top 30 educational institutions across the country as knowledge partners. These institutions include XLRI Jamshedpur, NIT Jamshedpur, IIT Dhanbad, Triple IT Ranchi, IIM Ranchi, NUEPA New Delhi, NLU Ranchi, NML Jamshedpur, and NITTR branches in Bhopal, Kolkata, Chandigarh, and Chennai. Additionally, local partners such as ATI Ranchi, CMPDI, and various universities and research institutes will contribute to the academy’s programs.
This strategic partnership with renowned educational bodies aims to transform state university teachers into role models, enhancing their teaching methods and overall effectiveness in the classroom.
