Jharkhand Govt nod for prosecution against Tata Steel CRM Bara, TMH, Tata Pigment, Tata Bluescope among 10 violating companies

Jamshedpur, October 21: The Jharkhand labour department has received administrative permission to file prosecution in the court against ten companies of Kolhan.

After Durga Puja the labour department will file prosecution against the companies. In May, the Labor Department had issued a notice to these companies and ordered them to form a works committee.

Despite the notice, the committee has not been formed. It is mandatory to form a Works Committee under the Industrial Disputes Act 1947.

Some of the companies facing flak include  Jamshedpur’s Nalco Water India Limited, Tata Steel CRM Bara, Tata Main Hospital, Tata Pigment Limited and Tata Bluescope, Narsingh Ispat Private Limited, RHI Magnesia India Limited, KR Industrial Project Private Limited, Pre Traded Industries and Suni Auto Allied Industries Limited.

Notice of Rs 90 lakh to six companies, order to pay cess of 1% of construction cost in 60 days.

The Labour department has given notice to six companies installing mobile towers in the city to recover cess of Rs 90 lakh. All companies have been asked to deposit the outstanding cess amount within 60 days.

Due to non-deposit of the amount, a 24 percent interest penalty on one percent of the construction cost may have to be deposited at the time of construction. Building and Under Construction Workers (BOCW) Board has been constituted to run schemes related to workers related to any kind of construction.

In commercial construction, it is mandatory to deposit one percent cess amount in the Labor Department on whatever value is produced. Six companies did not deposit the cess amount. A total of 257 mobile towers have been installed in Jamshedpur.
