Jamshedpur teenager drowns in river 

Jamshedpur, October 21: Tanish Sikka (15), resident of Khuntadih under Sonari police station, died of drowning in Swarnarekha river.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon. Tanish’s body was recovered from the Mango police station area on Saturday morning. The deceased was a student of a private school located in Sonari. Father Vijay Sikka works in this school. Tanish was the youngest among brother and sister.

Tanish’s father Vijay said that his son had left the house since 5 in the morning. When he did not return home till evening, a complaint was lodged at Sonari police station. Information was received this morning that his body was recovered from the Mango police station area. The fishermen present at the incident site told that two children had come to take bath in the river at 12 noon on Friday.

During this time a child started drowning and  to save the child, another child jumped into the river. Although one child was saved during this time, the other was swept away in the strong current of the river.
