Indian women’s football team members of FIFA U-17 WC meet CM
Ranchi, October 20: The six footballers who represented India in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup recently met chief minister Hemant Soren on Thursday.
Astam Oraon, Neetu Linda, Anjali Munda, Anita Kumari, Poornima Kumari and Sudha Ankita Tirkey from Jharkhand, represented the Indian football team in the Under-17 FIFA World Cup. These players thanked the Chief Minister for the cooperation extended by the government regarding training and preparations for the FIFA World Cup.
The Chief Minister said that you have brought laurels to the state by representing the country in the FIFA World Cup.
“We are all proud of all of you players. I would wish you good luck for performing even better for the state and the country in future,” said Soren motivating the players most of whom are from humble background from rural parts of the state.
Significantly, debutants India, who had qualified for the age-group showpiece by virtue of being hosts, lost to USA (0-8) , Morocco (0-3) and Brazil (0-5) in their matches played at Bhubaneshwar.
The Chief Minister said that the government has a special focus on the development of sports and sportspersons.
“We are determined to take the game forward. Sports policy has been made in this direction. At the same time, many players have also been appointed directly. In the coming days, many more sports facilities will be made available to the players, so that they can give special recognition to the state and the country at the international level by performing better in their respective sports,” said Soren.
The Chief Minister said that the government is working fast to ensure the provision of education for the talented children emerging in the field of sports. He told these players to focus on their game without worrying. All sports facilities will be provided along with their better training.
The Chief Minister said that sports competitions would be organized at Panchayat, Block, District and state level to create an environment of sports in the state. Apart from this, playgrounds in villages and panchayats and stadiums would be built at the block level.
On this occasion, these players shared their experiences of FIFA World Cup with the Chief Minister.
