Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais accorded warm welcome on maiden visit to UCIL’s Narwa Pahar Project

Jamshedpur, July 8: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais visited Narwa Pahar Uranium Project of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) on Friday. He was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival by the UCIL CMD Dr CK Asnani and other senior officials of the PSU. He reached here around 3.30 pm and spent around two hours at Narwa Pahar. He returned to Circuit House, Jamshedpur, around 5.30 pm.

Earlier, the Governor was scheduled to visit Turamdih Uranium Project. But due to delay, he directly went to Narwa Pahar Information Centre where the company officials shared information about uranium mining and various stages of its enrichment. The Governor also went 315 metre deep into a mine in a lift and saw cut and fill production method of uranium. This was the first time when a Governor visited UCIL’s Narwa Pahar Uranium Project, officials said.

In view of the Governor’s visit, the road from UCIL Colony to the Plant remained sealed for two hours. As a result, around 10 blaster workers going to duty at 4 pm had to return home. A-Shift employees were released half an hour before time.

Many company employees were present to welcome the Governor. They included UCIL’s Technical Director Rajesh Kumar, GM SK Sharma, DGM Rakesh Kumar and union general secretary Surjeet Singh Raja.
