Jamshedpur, Mar 6: Zilla parishad member Devyani Murmu and gram sabha delegation on Saturday met Jharkhand governor Droupadi Murmu over lease renewal of Surda mines in the Mosaboni block of East Singhbhum district.
The delegation informed that due to lack of lease expansion and renewal the mines is lying closed since April 1, 2020 rendering nearly 1500 workers unemployed who are staring at the brink of starvation and they urged for lease renewal.
The Governor immediately phoned up East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar and sought information and sent a letter to the concerned department for appropriate action.
The Governor gave positive response to the delegation over opening of Surda mines.
