Jharkhand: Four-year orphaned girl brought back to home district from Delhi

Ranchi, June 9: Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Center run by the Department of Women and Child Development has started efforts to send a 4-year-old orphan girl from Palamu district home on Thursday.

The girl was traced to the Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Center, New Delhi a few months back. Since then, the family members of the girl were being searched in Palamu district of Jharkhand.

After coming to know about the family, taking prompt action, a team was formed under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer and that team is coming to New Delhi and taking the girl back to Palamu district of Jharkhand state.

There the child will be produced before the child welfare committee  (CWC) and the child will be handed over to her family. Keeping in view the future of the girl child, it was told by the DSW and DCPO of Palamu district that the girl child will be linked to the sponsorship scheme immediately. Under this scheme, the girl child will be given an amount at the rate of Rs 2,000 per month for three years.

This amount is given for the education and other care of the children, as well as the children will be handed over to the Child Protection Committee constituted in district so that the child can be continuously monitored. District Child Protection Officer Prakash Kumar said that we cannot compensate for the loss caused to the girl child, but by connecting the child with various schemes, we can definitely make the child’s future bright.

Nachiketa, the nodal officer of Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre, told that this girl had come to Delhi with her father. His father was very ill. With the help of Delhi Police, the girl’s father was admitted to the hospital and the girl was kept in a home in Delhi. But unfortunately during treatment her father died and the child was completely orphaned.

Some documents of the father were found in which it was found that the girl’s father was a resident of Palamu district of Jharkhand state after which they contacted Palamau district officials.

District Social Welfare Officer, taking prompt action with the help of DCPO, not only traced the family of the girl child but also immediately formed a team and sent this team to New Delhi under the leadership of the District Child Protection Officer.
