Jharkhand: Former Minister Yadunath Baskey cremated with state honours

Ghatshila, June 2: Former Minister of undivided Bihar, Yadunath Baskey was cremated today with full state honors in Rangamatia village in Mediya Panchayat of Musabani block.

Yadunath Baskey died on Wednesday after prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment at Swarnrekha Nursing Home in Ghatshila. His body was kept in the HCL/ICC morgue from where local JMM leaders took his body to his native Rangamatia village for the final rights on Thursday. Yadunath Baskey’s body was taken in a huge procession to the Musabani JMM office where party leaders and cadres and others paid their last respect to the deceased leader. The funeral procession then proceeded to the cremation ground where his mortal remains were consigned to flames with full state honours.

Jharkhand Minister Champai Soren, Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren, Baharagora MLA Samir Mahanty, Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahto, Mohan Karmakar, Dulal Bhuinya, Shailendra Mahto and other leaders visited Rangamatia and offered floral tributes to late Yadunath Baskey. Jharkhand Minister Champai Soren observed on the occasion, “Yadunath Baskey was a guardian figure in the JMM fraternity. His demise is an irreparable loss and the vopid that has been created due to his death will be difficult to fill.”

Those present at the funeral to pay their last respect to Yadunath Baskey included Jamshedpur SSP, DDC, Ghatshila SDM, Musabani SDPO, BDO, CO, Musabani PS OC, MP representative Dinesh Saw, JMM leader Shankar Hembram, Mirza Soren, District Councilor Devyani Murmu and others. Yadunath Baskey has left behind his wife, Balmati Baskey and other members of the family.
