Jamshedpur Court rejects Pradeep Churiwala’s bail plea in son-in law’s suicide case

Jamshedpur, June 2: The Court has rejected the bail of Sonari resident Pradeep Churiwala and brother-in-law Piyush Churiwala, both accused of abetting Rourkela businessman Rahul Agarwal’s suicide. Rahul Agarwal, Pradeep Churiwala’s son-in-law committed suicide by jumping from the seventh storey of Om Tower in Bistupur on May 5, on the alleged ground of his in-laws’ demanding Rs Five crore.

It may be mentioned that the Court of ADJ-4 had already rejected the anticipatory bail applications of Pradeep Churiwala’s spouse Kusum Agarwal and the couple’s daughter on May 30. They have been accused of abetment leading to Rahul Agarwal’s suicide. Pradeep Churiwala and his family are residents of Ashiana Garden in Sonari. A case of abetment to Rahul Agarwal’s suicide was lodged in the Bistupur police station. Pradeep Churiwala, wife Kusum Agarwal, son Piyush and others have been absconding since the incident. An application was made for anticipatory bail in the District Judge’s Court. The police have, so far, not received an arrest warrant in the case. On the other hand, CCR DSP Animesh Kumar Gupta has also filed a report in the Court in the suicide case.

The deceased Rahul Agarwal’s brother, Ankit Agarwal had lodged an FIR in the Bistupur police station on May 6. Police also recovered a suicide note written by Rahul Agarwal, accusing his in-laws of falsely accusing him of dowry related harassment. The deceased had, prior to committing suicide had made videos in which he stated the causes of his decision to take the ultimate step and he laid the blame squarely on his in-laws. The videos had gone viral.
