Chakradharpur, Aug 20: West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal and Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar jointly visited various places across Chaibasa in the wake of the situation created by continuous rains on Saturday. They visited Jubilee Pond, Gurudwara Road, Gandhi Tola, Xavier Nagar and Patahatu among other places.
The sub divisional officer (SDO) of Chaibasa, Shashindra Kuma Baraik, sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Dilip Khalkho and Chaibasa Nagar Parishad Executive Officer Satyendra Mahato were also present.
During the visit, the DC and SP inspected the drainage system of the city and issued instructions to subordinate officials.
The DC said he had inspected the low-lying areas after continuous downpour lashed the city since last 24 hours. He said all officials concerned were directed to ensure proper drainage of rainwater to prevent water-logging in the city. The officials have been asked to camp in low-lying areas, he said, adding that the electricity department engineers have been put on alert and asked to maintain unobstructed power supply as far as possible.
