Jamshedpur man killed after car falls off bridge on NH33

Chandil, Aug 20: A speeding car fell off a road bridge situated on the Tata-Ranchi route on National Highway 33 near Bhuiyandih under Chandil police station area on Saturday and plunged into a water-filled pit. Its driver, identified as Arman, a resident of Jamshedpur, drowned in the pit as he could not get out of the car. Another youth sitting inside somehow saved his life by coming out of the vehicle.

Sources said the car, a Swift Dezire, was coming towards Jamshedpur from Ranchi. Near Bhuiyandih village, the car driver lost control over the vehicle. Consequently, the car dashed against the railing of the road bridge and fell into the pit below.

Due to rains, the pit was filled with water and the car plunged into it with the driver and passenger. A commuter, identified as Shekhar Ganguly, tried to help the driver by taking him out of the car. But the victim had died already. The other victim was taken to MGM Hospital, sources said.
