Jharkhand Elections: Second phase notification for 38 seats to be issued today

Jamshedpur, Oct 21: The notification for the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 will be issued on October 22, marking the start of the nomination process for 38 assembly seats across the state.

Among these seats, 3 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 8 for Scheduled Tribes (ST). Candidates will be able to file their nomination papers until October 29, with the scrutiny of these papers scheduled for October 30. Those wishing to withdraw their nominations can do so until November 1.

The second phase voting is set for November 20, and the counting of votes for all 81 assembly seats will take place on November 23. The entire election process is expected to conclude by November 25.

The Election Commission of India announced the election schedule on October 15, which brought the Model Code of Conduct into effect throughout Jharkhand. The notification for the first phase was issued on October 18, with nominations open until October 25. This election marks a significant change, as voting will be held in only two phases for the first time in a state that has historically faced challenges due to Naxalism. The notification on October 22 will cover various assembly seats, including Rajmahal, Borio (ST), Barhet (ST), Littipara (ST), Pakur, Maheshpur (ST), Shikaripara (ST), Nala, Jamtara, Dumka (ST), Jama (ST), Jarmundi, Madhupur, Sarath, Deoghar (SC), Poraiyahat, Godda, Mahagama, Ramgarh, Mandu, Dhanwar, Bagodar, Jamua (SC), Gandey, Giridih, Dumri, Gomia, Bermo, Bokaro, Chandankiyari (SC), Sindri, Nirsa, Dhanbad, Jharia, Tundi, Baghmara, Silli, and Khijri (ST).
