Jamshedpur: In a dramatic twist straight out of a Bollywood blockbuster, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife, Gandey legislator Kalpana Soren, dubbed by the BJP as “Bunty Aur Babli,” appear to have outmaneuvered the saffron brigade to secure a second consecutive term for the INDIA Alliance.
From the moment the election bugle sounded, the power couple embarked on a whirlwind campaign, addressing over 200 rallies across the state. Their relentless push seems to have paid off handsomely, with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) winning 21 seats and leading in 13 others as of 6:30 PM, according to the Election Commission’s latest updates.
The triumph comes despite significant hurdles. The JMM faced internal tremors as prominent leaders, including former Chief Minister Champai Soren and firebrand MLA Lobin Hembrom, defected to the BJP.
