Jharkhand Election: One more night to go for candidates before Seraikela prepares for vote counting

Seraikela, Nov 22: The final preparations are underway for the vote counting on Saturday, November 23, for the Jharkhand Assembly General Election-2024. Among the key assembly seats in focus are Saraikela, Kharsawan, and Ichagarh. The Saraikela seat is particularly considered one of the most contested in the state.

Candidates and community await results
While candidates and their supporters remain engaged in calculations and victory claims, villagers and city residents are actively discussing the potential outcome. Despite this being the season for paddy harvesting, a critical time for farmers, rural communities are keenly anticipating the results and reflecting on the future leadership of the state.

Voices from the villages
Local villagers shared their aspirations for the new government:

  • Gupat Mardi expressed hopes for development and peace, ensuring better income opportunities for hardworking families.
  • Karamu Tudu emphasized the need for a government that caters to all sections of society and improves basic amenities.
  • Singrai Mardi called for initiatives focusing on children’s future, societal safety, and environment-friendly agriculture.
  • Lutu Tudu urged the incoming government to deliver on-ground benefits of development schemes, prioritizing health, education, agriculture, markets, roads, and employment.

Vote counting process
The counting of votes for Saraikela, Kharsawan, and Ichagarh seats will begin at 8:00 am at Kashi Sahu College, Seraikela. Deputy Development Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Bardiyar stated that:

  • Saraikela and Kharsawan will have 15 counting rounds each, while Ichagarh will undergo 17 rounds.
  • 30 tables have been arranged for Saraikela, and 20 tables each for Kharsawan and Ichagarh.
  • Results will be announced after each round by the respective Returning Officers.

Special arrangements for security and traffic
Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat detailed the robust security and traffic measures:

  • No vehicle entry will be enforced in specific areas of Seraikela from 5:00 am to 12:00 pm. Key no-entry points include:
    • Near the BJP office for vehicles from Chaibasa.
    • 100 meters before Birsa Chowk for those from Kharsawan.
    • At the bypass road connecting Seraikela to Rajnagar.
    • At the Chinese and Kankra turns for vehicles from Jamshedpur.
  • Designated parking zones have been arranged for candidates, officials, and media inside the college, while general parking will be outside the gate.

As the district awaits the results, all eyes are on the vote counting process, with hopes for a peaceful and orderly outcome.
