Ranchi, Dec 7: The newly appointed Minister for School Education and Literacy, Ramdas Soren, took charge on Friday and immediately began reviewing the department’s ongoing initiatives. During his initial briefing, the minister emphasized his commitment to improving the system of government schools across the state.
Speaking to journalists, Soren said, “My first priority is to increase the trust of the people in government schools. We will work towards improving the quality of education and ensure that children who currently attend private schools are encouraged to enrol in government schools.” He further stated that efforts would be made to open as many model schools as possible in the state, bringing the quality of education closer to that of private institutions.
Soren also announced that schools closed during the tenure of the previous government, led by Raghuvar Das, will be reopened. “We will start the necessary process soon to reopen these schools and resume classes,” he added.
The Education Minister was joined by Umashankar Singh, the Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, along with other department officials, as they discussed future plans for the state’s education sector.
During the event, a delegation of state education officials met with Minister Ramdas Soren. The delegation included Ranchi’s District Education Officer (DEO) Vinay Kumar, Lohardaga’s DEO Neelam Aileen Topno, Education Officer Akash Kumar, and other key officials. The officials briefed the minister on various departmental activities and shared their insights on improving the education system across Jharkhand.
