Deoghar (Jharkhand) (IANS): Assailants murdered a woman and her son on Tuesday in Nawadih village, under the jurisdiction of the Sonaraithari police station, spreading panic across Jharkhand’s Deoghar district. Police recovered the bodies under suspicious circumstances, immediately registered a murder complaint, and launched an investigation.
Elite Forensic Teams Cordon Off Village
Deoghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Praveen Pushkar rushed to the crime scene to supervise operations. Investigators deployed a forensic team and a dog squad to gather physical evidence.
The local police initially secured the site after villagers sounded the alarm. The scale of the crime quickly forced authorities to deploy reinforcing teams from four neighbouring police stations to cordon off the entire village and launch a search operation.
Medical staff have shifted both bodies to a state facility for post-mortem examinations.
A Chilling Pattern: Father Murdered in 2022
On July 15, 2022, attackers used a sharp weapon to murder Riaz Ahmad—the husband of the deceased Jubeda Khatoon.
Grieving relatives revealed that police are yet to arrest the primary suspects in Ahmad’s 2022 homicide. Family members alleged that this left them vulnerable and paved the way for Tuesday’s double murder. Police said that they cannot conclusively link the two cases until they analyze fresh forensic data.
Police Hunt for Motive
Detectives are interrogating Nawadih residents and analyzing neighbourhood dynamics. Because the attackers left no immediate signature, investigators are pursuing multiple theories simultaneously:
- Internal Feuds: Tracking local family disputes and hostile relatives.
- Historical Enmities: Evaluating links to the unsolved 2022 homicide.
- Asset Disagreements: Reviewing property-related issues and local land holdings.
As fear and tension grip the village, SP Praveen Pushkar appealed to the public to maintain law and order, promising swift retributive action.
“We are investigating this case from every possible angle, relying heavily on technical surveillance, forensic tracking, and direct inputs from local residents,” SP Pushkar stated. “We will track down and arrest the culprits shortly.”
